Lakehawk Golf Competes at Black Diamond Ranch
LECANTO, Fla. (Women's Golf) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) women's golf traveled to Lecanto, Fla. to compete in the Battle at Black Diamond tournament hosted by New College of Florida on Tuesday. The tournament was originally scheduled to be a36-hole, one-day event; due to weather, teams played a partial round two, so scores reverted back to their 18-hole mark.
The Lakehawks competed in a field of NAIA and NJCAA student-athletes and among experienced veterans of collegiate level golf.
The team finished in four consecutive individual spots. Wies Bouwma recorded the team's lowest score for the event.
Annabelle Roy and Lillian Dunn finished in the middle one stroke apart and Alexis Westbay rounded out the scorecard for the Lakehawks.
"We have a great group of young ladies with very good potential. We will be ready to compete in our upcoming NJCAA push starting next month," said Head Coach Meredith Yaun.
The Lakehawks now take several weeks to train before their next tournament in October. The Lakehawks will travel to Union Grove, Ala. for the Snead State Invitational on Oct. 13-14.
This event will serve as the team's first experience against NJCAA Division II opponents.
