Leesburg, Fla. - The Lake-Sumter State College softball program will be putting on their Winter Camp & Showcase Saturday, January 8 beginning at 9:00 am at the LSSC Leesburg campus.
Softball players who are currently in high school are encouraged to attend. Several 2-year and 4-year college coaches will be invited. The showcase will give the athletes an opportunity to receive instruction from the LSSC coaching staff as well as former/current players and other college coaches.
Athletes will begin the day with a camp like atmosphere, spending time working on skill work both offensively and defensively. Players will also be timed on their runs as well as exit velocity for over hand throwing and hitting.
Along with the on-field activities, the athletes will have an opportunity to mingle with former/current Lake-Sumter softball players and have a chance to ask questions of college coaches at the end of camp.
Since Coach Miller and his staff arrived in 2015, the Lakehawks have signed over 25 girls as a direct result of Lake-Sumter's camps and showcases. The program is coming off of a 32-win season and a top four finish in the Mid-Florida Conference.
The cost of the camp will be $80. Five or more athletes from a single team will be given a discounted rate of $70 per player.
