Lakehawk Golf Signs Tripp Watkins for 2024-25 Season
Tripp Watkins join the team as the fourth signee for the 2024-25 season
CLERMONT, Fla. (Golf) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) men's golf team welcome Tripp Watkins join as the fourth signee for the 2024-25 season.
Tripp Watkins is a graduate of First Academy – Leesburg and a local to Leesburg, Fla. He played golf for the Eagles for the last seven years and was appointed as the captain of the team in his senior year.
During his time at First Academy, he advanced to the Florida High School Athletic Association Region tournament five out of his seven years there. One of his highest accolades came in 2022 when he placed second at the District Championship.
Watkins plans to student business at Lake-Sumter.
Lake-Sumter, Florida Gateway College, and Palm Beach State College joins Daytona State College, Eastern Florida State College, and Seminole State College in adding golf for the 2024-25 season.
At this time, there is not a Florida College System Athletic Association (FCSAA) / Region 8 Championship established, but teams will have the opportunity to compete for a national championship in May of 2025.
