Rich Billings, Sr
Rich Billings, Sr
Title: Assistant Baseball Coach
City: Leesburg, Fla.

Upon retiring from a 38-year banking career, Rich is able to spend additional time pursuing a fondness he has always held back. While the chance to be on the field everyday with highly skilled young men maybe wasn’t ever planned, it was a chance that was often imagined. Having watched the younger Coach Billings pursue his baseball playing days through college and further observed his admired passion to teach and lead others as a coach, the fortunate chance to work alongside him in the dugout every day is extraordinarily gratifying.

Prior to entering into his banking career, Rich was a middle infielder in college. He graduated and played baseball for two years (1977-1979) at Seminole State College for Coach Jack Pantelias, whose honor is bestowed with his name upon the ballpark he built at Seminole State. The following two years Rich was gifted the opportunity to attend, graduate and play baseball at Rollins College (1979-1981) for the legendary, beloved and admired, Coach Boyd Coffie. There was no better privilege in life than to have learned about college baseball and all that follows from these two legendary figures.

In addition to coaching duties at LSSC, Rich also volunteers as an Assistant Coach for the Leesburg Lightning. Rich remains active in the community serving on the:  Board and as Treasurer of the Lake County Education Foundation; Leadership Board and Board Development Chair for the Lake County Fellowship of Christian Athletes; and Investment Committee member of the Lake Sumter State Foundation.

Rich has been married to his wife Vicki for 39 years and in addition to his son Rich, they have two admired daughters, Emily (Tallahassee, FL) and Amy (Tulsa, OK) plus four beautiful and well-loved grandchildren…Parker, Halle, Sophia and Brantleigh.
