Lakehawk Beach Volleyball Opens National Championship with Two Wins

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Beach Volleyball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Beach Volleyball team opened the 2025 NJCAA Beach Volleyball Championship with a pair of wins on Thursday afternoon. The Lakehawks defeated Sandhills Community College (SCC) 5-0 and Wake Tech Community College 4-1.

No. 5 – Rylee Martineau and Sydney Pickle def. E. Freeman/J. Holden, 21-10, 20-22, 15-6

No. 1 – Cooper and Mittauer def. G. Carter/C. Stein, 21-17, 21-14

No. 2 – A. Carver/O. Garzelloni def. Noel and Van Deusen, 21-16, 21-19

No. 3 – Calton and A. Pickle def. M. Barnes/M. Vicente, 21-13, 21-7

The Lakehawks will face off with a familiar foe, State College of Florida (SCF), for their final pool play match. The results from the pool play matches on Friday and Saturday will place teams into new seeds for championship bracket play

The winner between Lake-Sumter and SCF will become the #2 seed play the #7 seed at 2:00 p.m. The losing team will become the #3 seed and play the #6 seed at 12:30 p.m.
