HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Beach Volleyball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) beach volleyball team opened the 2024 NJCAA Beach Volleyball Championship with a pair of 5-0 wins over Trinidad State College and Sandhills Community College in pool play.

The results from day one's matches place teams into their day two challenge brackets.

The Lakehawks remain the second seed in pool two. They will open tomorrow morning's matches with Richard Bland College at 10:00 a.m. EST followed by Gaston College at 4:14 p.m. EST.

Richard Bland College entered the tournament as the no. three seed after Palm Beach State and Lake-Sumter. The Statesmen received an automatic bid to the tournament as the 2024 Region 10 Champions.

On day one of pool play, Richard Bland College split their pair of matches. They swept the court with a 5-0 win over Bryant & Stratton College and lost a close match to State College of Florida 3-2.

Gaston College, one of three at-large bids in the tournament, joins Richard Bland from Region 10. The Rhinos enter the tournament with an 8-20 record.

On day one, Gaston College went 0-2 in pool play with a 5-0 loss to Palm Beach State and a 4-1 loss to Mesa Community College.

The results of day two's challenge brackets will place teams into the Championship bracket for the final day of the tournament.
