CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Beach Volleyball) – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced the 2022-23 NJCAA Beach Volleyball All-American teams for this season. Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) placed four Lakehawks on the list.
Leanne Blue and Alyssa Guarino were named No. 2 Second Team Doubles All-Americans while Berklee Andrews and Alanis Figueroa Rivera were named No. 3 Second Team Doubles All-Americans.
Blue & Guarino
Blue and Guarino paired up in the No. 3 pair spot later into the spring season.
Their first match playing together was at the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Small College Beach Championship. There, they helped the team advance to the Silver Bracket Championship.
At the NJCAA national championship, the pair went 4-0. Their highlight of the weekend as a pair was being the deciding dual against South Mountain to clinch the team's third place finish in the tournament.
Guarino is now the program's first-ever two-time All-American after receiving the honor at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in 2022.
Andrews & Figueroa
Andrews and Figueroa were the Lakehawks' most successful pair in the No. 5 spot winning 10 duals for the season.
Their most notable performance was at the NJCAA national championship where they went 6-0, winning a pair of duals for each day of the tournament. Andrews and Figueroa were the deciding dual for the team in three of their six wins in the tournament.
