Lakehawk Athletics Names Meredith Yaun to Lead Inaugural Golf Season
CLERMONT, FLA. (Golf) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Athletics has named Meredith Yaun as the Men's and Women's Golf Head Coach for the program's inaugural season in 2024-25. Yaun brings 35 years of experience and a wealth of knowledge to this brand-new program.
"We are excited to have Coach Yaun join the Lakehawk family to lead the inaugural men's and women's golf teams. Her years of experience as a PGA Teaching Pro and familiarity of Lake and Sumter Counties allows her to hit the ground running in starting these programs.
"In addition, her care and love for young people to grow in the game of golf and life makes her a perfect fit," said Executive Director of Athletics.
Yaun is a graduate of Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Fla. where she played four years of collegiate level golf. After FIU, she had the opportunity to play on the European Golf Tour from 1983 to 1993.
In 1986, Yuan won the Bowring Ladies Scottish Open. She became the first and only American to win the tournament to date.
Currently, Yaun teaches golf at Clerbrook Golf and RV Resort and Swiss Fairways Golf Club, both located in Clermont, Fla.
Lakehawk Golf will join the cross country and track & field teams on our South Lake Campus in Clermont, Fla. With six student-athletes on the men's roster currently, the team will train towards earning a spot at the national championship in May of 2025 in Plymouth, Ind.
