Alisha Wintersdorf Named Lakehawk Volleyball Head Coach
LEESBURG, Fla. (Volleyball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Athletics has named Alisha Wintersdorf as Lakehawk Volleyball's head coach.
Wintersdorf brings over 15 years of coaching experience to the Lakehawk Volleyball program. Most recently, she has served as the Director and Head Coach of the American Athletic Club in Tavares, Fla. since 2018 and the Tavares High School Head Volleyball Coach since 2019.
In addition to coaching, Wintersdorf has also worked within the Lake Country School District as a Curriculum Coach and an elementary school teacher.
Prior to coaching, Wintersdorf played volleyball at Lake-Sumter before transferring to play both indoor volleyball and beach volleyball at Stetson University in DeLand, Fla.
"Coach Wintersdorf brings a passion for volleyball and for Lake-Sumter, as well as experience at both the high school and club levels, to the Head Volleyball Coach position at LSSC. Her desire for helping student-athletes achieve their goals, fostering and developing local talent, and continuing growth and success within the community will be an asset to our student-athletes and the College," said Executive Director of Athletics, Padraic McMeel.
Wintersdorf was raised in Lake County and has been ingrained in the local community since a young age. Those lifelong connections have fueled her passion for the sport of volleyball and her commitment to fostering its growth within the community.
Coach Wintersdorf will take over a Lakehawk Volleyball program with a pair of district titles and two national appearances since 2018. From the 2023-24 team, there are six returning sophomores with nine newcomers this fall.
The Lakehawks will open the 2024 season at home on Friday, August 23.
