WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Volleyball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) volleyball team will travel to West Palm Beach, Fla. on Thursday for the 2023 Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Division II/National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) South Atlantic District Volleyball Championship beginning on Friday, Nov. 3. The Lakehawks enter the tournament as the sixth seed.
Lake-Sumter will kick off the tournament on Friday at 10:00 a.m. against third seeded State College of Florida (SCF). The winner will advance to the semifinal match against second seeded Gulf Coast State College Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
Friday morning will be the second matchup of the season between the Lakehawks and SCF's Manatees. The last time the teams played, SCF took the match 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16).
On the other side of the bracket, No. 4 Pensacola State College and No. 5 St. Johns River State College will play after the conclusion of the LSSC/SCF match. The winner will advance to the semifinal match against first seeded Pasco-Hernando State College Friday night.
The winner of each semifinal match will advance to the title match at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4. The tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the national championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Nov. 15-18.
