Tallahassee, FL – After collecting their 10th win on the season, the Lake-Sumter State College volleyball team has two players selected as Region 8 Players of the Week for their positions.
Amanda Berecz had a career night on Friday collecting 45 digs in one match. The sophomore totaled 103 digs in five matches to help her earn Region 8 Div. II Defensive Player of the Week. Berecz now has the most digs in a single match this season in Region 8.
After averaging 12 assists over 17 sets last week, Gabriela Hernandez earned Setter of the Week for Region 8 Division II. The sophomore currently sits second in the state averaging 8.17 assists per set. Hernandez has reached 50+ assists in a match three times already in 2018.
This marks the second time both of these standout student-athletes have earned their respective awards this season.
