Game Day! Chloe's 3rd Journal Entry

Game Day! Chloe's 3rd Journal Entry

Hickory, NC – Friday meant game day for the Lake-Sumter State College volleyball team. Chloe Campbell gives us another inside look from the student-athlete's point of view with her third journal entry.

"Welcome back! Today was the first day of games! We had to be up bright and early at 6:30 am. The team headed downstairs for breakfast all together. I was so happy they had bacon this morning, I had about 10 pieces. It was definitely the breakfast of champions. Wheaties is overrated anyway.

We headed to the gymnasium around 7:00 am. Our first game was slated to begin at 9, warmups started at 8. Our first game was against Northern Virginia Community College. We won the game in three straight sets. The second game was right after, almost like a double header in baseball or softball. Our opponent was Bob Jones University. We ended up going to four sets with them, but eventually won the match. We played hard the whole day and worked our butts off and deserved to go 2-0.

After the games, everyone was in the weird exhausted, but super happy mode after two wins. We went to Jersey Mikes sub shop to get lunch. Some of the parents even came to eat with us. Everyone was so hungry, they devoured their food within minutes. We got to spend time together and enjoy our wins. Lunch went by fast, then we headed back to the hotel and went straight to our rooms, showered, and hopped right back in bed to catch up on some sleep.

We headed to dinner at 6:45 pm and ate at a place called Hannah's Barbecue. I got the ribs and fries. It was so good! Everyone loved their food and was stuffed to the brim. We all took a group photo and pulled up a picture of Hannah so that she would be there in spirit since she wasn't able to come.

After dinner we all went to our rooms and began to pack our stuff up since tonight was our last night in the hotel. Checkout would be bright and early tomorrow. We played music out loud as we danced and sang like the professionals we are while cleaning around the room. All and all it was a great day with new memories and more wins."
