Journal Entry No. 1 from Chloe

Journal Entry No. 1 from Chloe

Hickory, NC – After a 3-0 sweep of St. Johns River State College on Tuesday, the Lake-Sumter State College volleyball team was wheels up on the runway and headed to Hickory, NC Wednesday.

Freshman, Chloe Campbell will be giving us the inside scoop on the team's out of state adventure. Each day she will provide us with a journal entry and let everyone know what is going on with the team and their very out of ordinary next few days.

"Hi everyone! My name is Chloe Campbell and I'm going to be keeping you updated on our wonderful trip to North Carolina. My team and I all got together Wednesday morning at 9:30 am. We did this to make sure we had everything in order. You know the stuff that someone always forgets, I.D., purse, money or even worse, snacks. We had it all ready to go.

Next, we hopped in the vans and began our one hour trip to the airport. The van rides always bring us closer together by letting us all jam to our favorite songs. The song that got us all pumped up for the day was Don't Stop Believing by Journey. Everyone knows the words and everyone is off key and it's just awesome.

Once we got to the airport we had to go through security. After we successfully got by security, the nervousness for some began to set it. Amanda Berecz has never flown on a plane in her life. She told me that she felt like her heart was going to jump out of her chest. She was so nervous she ended up taking medicine. The medicine made her calm down and sleepy which helped her through the 73 minute plane ride.

Also, while on the plane we made friends with a young girl who played volleyball and wanted to say hi to us. Afterwards we took a group picture with her and her friend. It was a very cool moment realizing how awesome it is to be a collegiate student-athlete and to be able to go on this trip.

Once we collected our bags we hopped back into a van and looked for food. Can you imagine how many hangry people were in our group? They were all civil though, so it was ok. We ended up going to a place called the Cook Out. I had never been there before and was excited to try it. It was really nice, the whole place was outside. The weather was amazing, it was nice and warm, but it was not humid like Florida. It felt wonderful!

After lunch, we hopped back in the vans for another hour ride to the hotel, checked in and literally everyone just went straight to their rooms and began homework or took a nap. Around 6:30 pm we headed out to go find dinner. We ended up going to a small hole in the wall place and had a really nice time. We were not allowed to use our phones either so we all ended up having a really nice family type dinner.

It was a very long and exciting day. Tomorrow's schedule is wide open. I'm pretty sure we are going to go around town and check out everything it has to offer.

Time for bed. Talk to y'all tomorrow!"
