TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Softball) – Freshman Kaitlyn Duquette was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance in the week of Feb. 5-11. Duquette stepped up for the Lahawks on the mound securing two wins for the team last week.
In two appearances, Duquette posted a 2-0 record on the mound with a 1.00 earned run average (ERA). She picked up two complete-game wins over St. Petersburg College and East Georgia State College.
In 14.0 innings, she allowed just two runs on 12 hits and two walks while striking out 11.
In her first mound appearance of the week, Duquette faced St. Petersburg College in game one of their Tuesday double header. She recorded six strikeouts while allowing just two runs to score on six hits and one walk.
On Friday against East Georgia State College, Duquette tossed her first-career shutout in the win. She posted six strikeouts and allowed just six hits and one walk.
Head Coach Jay Miller shared his thoughts on Duquette's standout performance, "I have seen how hard she has been working and we saw her take a huge lead forward at the end of the fall.
"Now, to see her continue that development in the circle, I cannot wait to see what she does next. We are very proud of her," said Coach Miller.
For the season, Duquette has thrown 24.2 innings and posts a 2-3 record on the mound. She maintains a 3.41 ERA with 16 strikeouts.
Duquette currently ties for second in the conference with wins (2) and complete games (2), and fourth for strikeouts (16).
Up next for the Lakehawks
Duquette and the Lakehawks will be on the road Tuesday, Feb. 13 to play a double header at Hillsborough Community College.
