Softball Ready to Start March Schedule

Leesburg, Fla. – The Lake-Sumter State College softball team is 26 games into their 2022 season and are sitting at 14-12 overall.

The success of the season so far revolves around the contributions of many. Raquel Camuglia leads the team with 26 hits and nine doubles while carrying a .342 average. Jeritza Montero and Morgan Johnson have both tallied 25 hits to date while Montero leads the team with 17 RBI's. Alyssa Opsahl is swinging the bat to the tune of a .383 average while utilizing her speed to steal 10 bases. Tatum McGrath has made an impact starting in five different positions so far this season and is hitting .308.

Jordyn Anderson has opened her collegiate career with a 5-2 record with three complete games. Amber Griffin has three complete game victories, including a shutout against Hillsborough Community College. Darian Pippin currently leads the staff with a 2.84 ERA with a 3-1 record and one save. Mia Lovett has two wins and two big saves coming out of the pen in back-back games in the first weekend. Alyssa Dragovich tossed a four-hit complete game shutout against Polk State back on February 11.

The Lakehawks have a couple of weeks remaining until the Mid-Florida Conference schedule gets underway. Their next contest is on the road Thursday against State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (11-7) before returning home to host Miami Dad College (11-11) on Saturday.
