Four Lakehawks Earn All-Conference Selections

Leesburg, Fla. – The pitching duo of Abbey Primavera and Allie Geier headline the Lake-Sumter State College softball program's four All-Conference selections announced Monday.

Jennifer Bryant – 2nd Team All-Conference

Bryant was one of the last recruits signed by the Lakehawks in the middle of the summer in 2018, but made one of the biggest impacts in 2019. After winning the third base job in the fall, the freshman continued to improve on the field both offensively and defensively. "We knew she had a cannon, we knew she had range, but the question was whether or not she could hit," said Head Coach, Jay Miller. The Steinbrenner High School grad hit a team high .338 over the regular season and then .362 during conference play. Bryant also led the Mid-Florida Conference with 23 stolen bases.

Casey Allen - 2nd Team All-Conference

A local kid from Mount Dora Christian Academy, Allen made an immediate impact in her first season of collegiate softball. The versatile athlete started games in all three outfield positions, catcher and as the designated player. Her ability to play multiple positions while fielding .950 over the course of the season earned her an at-large/utility selection. "Casey is just an incredible athlete who is capable of doing just about anything she wants on a softball diamond," Miller said. Allen hit .322 with a .393 on-base percentage while leading the team with four home runs.

Allie Geier - 2nd Team All-Conference

Geier was instrumental in the Lakehawks on field success the last two years. The lefty racked up 10 wins in 2019 to go along with three saves. Geier's 2.15 earned run average is the lowest for a single season in program history. "Allie came back for her sophomore season with a plan for success and she executed it very well and has certainly left her mark on this program," said Miller. Geier leaves the program ranked third in wins in a single season (10) and fourth in career wins (16) while owning the career mark for saves with a perfect 8 for 8 record.

Abbey Primavera - 2nd Team All-Conference

After leading the team in innings pitched in 2018, Primavera returned to lead her team in wins this season with 11. Geier and Primavera became the first pair of pitchers to reach 10+ wins in the same season in program history. The righty ends her career with the fifth most innings pitched (207.2), fourth lowest ERA (3.24) and second most wins (18) over a two year span. "I can't say enough about her consistency in the circle. You knew exactly what you were going to get day in and day out and that is invaluable as a coach." Miller said. The pitcher also added 14 hits to her resume in the last two seasons.
