Call to the Hall

Columbus, OH. – Lake-Sumter State College Assistant Softball Coach, William "Butch" Miller was inducted into his high school's Athletic Hall of Fame over the summer.

Coach Butch, as he is known on campus, received the phone call from the Athletic Director congratulating him on the honor in early June. Saint Charles Preparatory School in Columbus, Ohio is a private Catholic high school located in the downtown area of the state capital. The school boasts 15 varsity sports and competes against some of the elite schools in the state of Ohio.

A leading hitter in the Columbus area both his junior and senior seasons, it was his influence on the 1975 team during his junior year that made the biggest impact. Miller hit over .400 while leading the county in home runs and helping an already stellar team make a deep run in the state playoffs. During his final season at Saint Charles, he hit over .600 and was selected All-Ohio.

"What an honor it is being selected for this," said Miller. "I have a bunch of people to thank, but it comes down to my wife and my parents. Without their love and support, none of this would be possible." In 2015, Miller was inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside the rest of his teammates from 1975. He is now a two time member of the Saint Charles Athletic Hall of Fame. He will be joining his son, Head Softball Coach Jay Miller, for their third season leading the Lakehawks softball program this fall.
