Originally from DeBary, FL, Drew Peden begins his first season as the pitching coach at Lake-Sumter. After graduating from Olympic High School, Peden began his collegiate career at Daytona State College where he was selected to the Mid-Florida All-Conference Team. The right handed submarine style pitcher finished his final two years in college playing at Florida Atlantic University. In two years with the Owls, he went 13-3 with a 3.26 ERA. He struck out 47 in 33.1 innings in his junior year and as a senior, he went 9-1 with a 3.44 ERA while leading the team with 36 appearances and 55 relief innings. He was named Second Team All-Conference USA in 2018.

After signing on June 11, 2018, Pedan began his first season in professional baseball, playing for the Windy City Thunderbolts out of the Frontier League. He threw 37.1 innings, carrying a record of 3-2 with three saves.
