Lakehawk Baseball’s Nathan Quinn Named Region 8 Pitcher of the Week
Quinn earns the first honor of his career at Lake-Sumter
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Baseball) – Sophomore left-headed pitcher Nathan Quinn was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance in the week of Jan. 22-28.
Quinn was the starting pitcher in game two of the Lakehawk's Saturday double header versus Millennia Atlantic University (MAU). He made Lakehawk baseball history after throwing a program-first no-hitter against the MACAWS.
In the 12-0 Lakehawk win, Quinn recorded eight strikeouts and just three walks. With just 81 pitches thrown against 23 MAU batters, 63 of those were strikes.
Head Coach Rich Billings shared his thoughts on Quinn's honor, "I am very happy for Nathan. He is extremly deserving of this honor and it could not have happened to a better human being.
"One of the most admiring qualities about him is that he continues to work toward improvement and he is very intentional about it. This is a great kickstart for his confidence and we are all looking forward to his next start," said Coach Billings.
Up next for the Lakehawks
Quinn and the Lakehawks will be back in action on Friday afternoon at The Hawks Nest with a single game matchup against Seminole State College at 1:00 p.m.
