Lakehawk Baseball Falls to No. 1 CF

LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball hosted No. 1 College of Central Florida (CF) on Monday afternoon. The Lakehawks fell to the Patriots in a highly competitive game 8-2.

CF took an early 5-0 lead after scoring two runs in the first inning. Then came back with three runs in the second inning on a three-run home run to right center by John Marant.

The Lakehawks added a pair of runs to the board after a leadoff single by Levi Anderson and a two-run blast by sophomore outfielder Kendal Spencer.

Robert Tracy entered the game to pitch in the top of the third in relief of starting pitcher Jackson Raper. Tracy threw five solid innings on the mound holding the explosive Patriots offense to no runs on just three hits with four strikeouts.

Trey Clinton came in to close the game in the top of the eighth for Tracy. The Patriots added three more runs on two hits to solidify their 8-2 win over Lake-Sumter.

The Lakehawk offense was led by Spencer, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Hunter Looper going 2-for-2 with two walks.

Raper recorded the loss on the mound moving to 0-2 on the season. The Lakehawks are now 7-11 while the Patriots improved to 20-1.

Up next for the Lakehawks

The Lakehawks will travel to Ocala, Fla. on Wednesday, March 1 to play No. 1 CF at 2:30 p.m.
