Lakehawks Win in Extras

Leesburg, Fla. – It took extra innings, but the Lake-Sumter State College baseball team took down Seminole State College on the road, 8-5.

Tied up at 5-5 after nine innings of play, the Lakehawks pushed across three runs in the top of the 10th inning. Caden Kresak came in from the bullpen and shut down the Raiders bats, 1-2-3, to record his first save of the season.

Carson Russel came through with a triple and finished the day with three RBIs. Tim Kudlinski and Auston Chisenhall combined for four hits, three RBIs and three runs scored. Kudlinski added a stolen base in the win. Evan Loeser was credited with the victory from the mound. His second win of the season.

The next three games resulted in losses to Santa Fe College, 11-1, 9-0 and 11-7. In the third game, LSSC carried a 7-5 lead into the ninth, but a late six-run rally by the Saints put them back in front for good.

Kresak had a day at the plate in the 11-7 loss, going 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Chisenhall added two more hits, including a double and two runs scored on the day.

Lake-Sumter (12-23, 3-12) will begin their second round of Mid-Florida Conference play on Saturday when they host Daytona State College.
