Baseball Looks to get Back on Track

Leesburg, Fla. – The Lake-Sumter State College baseball team started the Mid-Florida Conference schedule on fire, taking 2 out 3 against Daytona State, but have not been able to get back on the winning track.

Eight consecutive losses at the hands of St. John's River State College, College of Central Florida and Seminole State College have made for a tough stretch as of late for the Lakehawks.

Tim Kudlinski continues to drive in runs for LSSC and leads the team with 30 RBIs and six home runs. The sophomore has collected 34 hits in 30 games while slugging .548 on the season. Ryan Monaghan carries a .333 average with 32 hits, five doubles, eight stolen bases and 24 RBIs. Chris Fergueson is also having a stellar freshman campaign along with Monaghan. The Hudson, FL native is hitting .329 with five doubles and a triple in 30 games played.

Ryan Brown and Colton Bruns continue to rack up the strikeouts boasting a 10.47 and 11.05 K-rate through nine innings respectively. Caleb Wood leads the way for the pitching staff with four wins under his belt with his last victory coming against Daytona State.

Lake-Sumter (11-20, 2-9) will head to Seminole State College Friday for a 1 pm start in the third game of the series.
