Four Lakehawks Named All-MFC

Four Lakehawks Named All-MFC

Ocala, Fla. – With the postseason on the horizon, the Lake-Sumter State College baseball program had four players tabbed All Mid-Florida Conference this week.

Kyle Wiseman, who has been an anchor for the Lakehawks in the bullpen this season, was selected first team All-MFC. Throwing just over 44 innings on the season, Wiseman owns a 2.23 earned run average while striking out 50. The local product made three starts down the final stretch of the season which resulted in three wins for Lake-Sumter. He also earned three saves on the season.

After playing in just 27 games his freshman year, Tanner Clark was a force to be reckoned with in 2018, helping him earn second team All-MFC accolades. The catcher tallied 41 hits on the year hitting .311 with an on-base percentage just under .460. His 30 walks were fifth best in the conference and he ended up swiping seven bases.

Freshman sensation, Angel Padilla was named to the second team All-MFC playing in 40 games and hitting .310. He went 1 for 4 and scored a go ahead run in the upset against No. 1 Santa Fe to clinch a postseason berth. Padilla was 13 for 13 in stolen base attempts while crossing home plate 27 times and knock in 16 RBIs. His best game came against Florida State College – Jacksonville where the outfielder went 4 for 5 and fell just a home run away from the cycle driving in two runs.

Robbie Scott was the final Lakehawk honored by the conference. The freshman earned a second team All-Conference nod after leading Lake-Sumter in hitting with a .325 batting average. Scott was a pest on the base path as well stealing 17 bases and scoring 30 runs during the regular season. The Longwood, FL native led the team with 31 runs driven in and boasted 15 multi-hit games on the year.

"We are a very young team and to have two freshman and two sophomores named to All-Conference teams says a lot about our program," said Head Coach, Rich Billings. "I can't say enough about the leadership Kyle and Tanner have displayed this season. Then to have Robbie and Angel step up like they did was awesome to see. I'm proud of these four and our team as a whole. They've accomplished a lot."
