Clark Helping Lead Lakehawks Down the Stretch

Clark Helping Lead Lakehawks Down the Stretch

Leesburg, Fla. – The Lake-Sumter State College baseball team has run into a string of bad luck lately, but with six games remaining, Tanner Clark and others are looking to make their mark.

Through 38 games played this season, the local product from Eustis High School is making the most of his time on the field. Clark currently leads the team hitting .321 with three doubles and 21 runs driven in. He is second on the team with 29 walks and has only struck out nine times on the year.

With 11 doubles, two triples and three home runs to his credit, Alan Alonso is having a fine rookie campaign. The utility man has also swiped seven bags and leads the team in slugging at .471. Robbie Scott has also been a major factor for the Lakehawks in his first season for LSSC. Scott is at the top of the list when it comes to driving in runs, totaling 29 RBIs in 36 games. He also has 27 runs scored and 16 stolen bases.

Having an under the radar sneaky good season is Collin Teegarden. The Kentucky native would be considered a sabermetrics darling by Major League Baseball standards when it comes to getting on base. In 43 games, Teegarden has walked 40 times and also collected 38 hits. Through a stretch of 22 games this season, the freshman SS only didn't reach base one time. During the entirety of the season, there have been just five games Teegarden did not reach base or drive in an RBI.

Kyle Wiseman is putting together a stellar season from the mound. Typically used as a middle reliever, the righty owns a minuscule 1.54 ERA while averaging over 10 strikeouts per nine innings. Nick Labrada and Andrew Miele both have three wins on the season.

The Lakehawks own a 14-28-1 overall record and are currently 6-12 in conference play. Baseball will host St. Johns River Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 1 pm.
