Leesburg, Fla. – After two losses to start the series with Daytona State, the Lake-Sumter State College baseball team rebounded for two straight wins heading into the weekend.

Wednesday marked the beginning of a three game series with Daytona State. Game one was an offensive output for both squads. The bats broke out for a combined 25 hits and 19 runs scored over nine innings.

LSSC found themselves on the short end of a 12-7 loss. Tanner Clark had a solid day at the plate going 3 for 5 with one double, an RBI and one run scored. Seth Martin joined Clark in the three hit parade adding a double of his own with two runs scored. Maurice James and Alan Alonso notched two hit ball games while Robbie Scott had one hit and two stolen bases.

Game two in the series was played in Leesburg Friday. The Falcons jumped out early and held on for a 6-1 victory over the Lakehawks.

Brody Rubenstein, Clark and Scott collected two hits each in a losing effort. Rubenstein added his second round tripper of the season in the third inning.

Lake-Sumter came out swinging in the third and final game of the series putting up eight runs through the first four innings. Nick Labrada cruised through the first four innings allowing zero runs.

The Falcons collected four runs in the fifth inning, but the bullpen combo of Quinn Echelson and Kyle Wiseman thwarted the comeback effort. Labrada earned the win with Wiseman getting credit for the save.

Conner Andrews had the only extra base hit for the Lakehawks going 2 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Collin Teegarden continues to get on base at an extraordinary clip going 1 for 2 with two walks, a stolen base and two runs scored.

Seminole State began their series with the Lakehawks Wednesday at the Hawks Nest. A solid pitcher's duel for the first five innings had the Raiders leading 1-0. The Lakehawks broke through in the sixth with three runs crossing the plate to take their first lead of the ball game.

LSSC grabbed their second straight three run inning in the seventh, followed by two more in the eighth. Seminole was only able to bring one more run around in the Lakehawk 8-2 victory.

Cameron Recny had his best performance of the season from the mound going seven innings and allowing only two runners to reach base. Recny struck out five and gave up one earned run.

Alonso collected four RBIs and went 3 for 5 with a double and one run scored. Clark notched two more hits and two RBIs in the win as well.

Lake-Sumter heads to Seminole State Friday for game two of the series. First pitched slated for 3 pm. The Lakehawks are now 11-20-1, 3-4 and are currently sitting fourth in the Mid-Florida Conference.
