Lakehawk Beach Volleyball Outlasted by Palm Beach State
TAVARES, Fla. (Beach Volleyball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) beach volleyball returned to Hickory Point for the final Sun-Lakes Conference regular season match against Palm Beach State College (PBSC). The Lakehawks fell to the Panthers 3-2.
No. 5 pair Mazi Watson and Cecilia Calton in their debut outing together lost in two sets, 14-21, 11-21.
No. 4 Berklee Andrews and Allie Cox also lost in three sets, 11-21, 21-16, 12-15
Braelyn Mittauer and Jayden Ponsford at the No. 3 pair snagged the first win for the Lakehawks in two sets, 22-20, 21-16.
No. 2 pair Leanne Blue and Cassidy Rountree had an exciting dual at the No. 2 pair with two high scoring sets. Blue and Rountree won 26-24, 21-18.
The Panthers secured the win over the Lakehawks with the No. 1 pairs. Kaylee Hunt and Yarelis Lopez Osorio lost in two sets, 11-21, 22-24.
In exhibition, Audrey Pickle and Rylee Martineau played three sets with a final score of 3-21, 21-13, 13-15.
The Lakehawks move to a 7-10 overall record, 3-4 Sun-Lakes Conference record.
This dual with Palm Beach State was the final regular season match against Sun-Lakes Conference opponents for post-season consideration. Lake-Sumter currently ranks third in conference standing.
