FORT WORTH, Fla. (Beach Volleyball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) beach volleyball team traveled to Fort Worth, Fla. on Sunday afternoon for a tri-match with Palm Beach State College (PBSC) and Stevenson University. The Lakehawks lost to PBSC 5-0 and Stevenson 4-1.

Match One – Lake-Sumter 5, PBSC 0

The Lakehawks faced Palm Beach State for the third time this season and were unable to edge out a win falling to the Panthers 5-0.

No. 4 pair Yarelis Lopez Osorio and Leslie Catlett went three close sets but ultimately fell short, 20-22, 21-17, 12-15. No. 5 pair Berklee Andrews and Alanis Figueroa lost in two sets, 13-21, 15-21.

No. 1 pair Alyssa Guarino and Kaylee Hunt lost in two sets, 12-21, 8-21. No. 3 pair Leanne Blue and Jayden Ponsford also lost in two, 9-21, 19-21.

In exhibition, No. 6 pair Maddison Perez and Mazi Watson lost in two sets, 17-21, 13-21.

Match Two – Lake-Sumter 1, Stevenson 4

The Lakehawks faced Stevenson University from Owings Mills, Md. for the first and only time this season, falling short to the NCAA Division III squad 4-1.

No. 4 pair Catlett and Ponsford took the Stevenson No. 4 pair three sets but fell short, 21-10, 19-21, 5-15. No. 2 pair McCann and Cassidy Rountree lost in two sets 9-21, 18-21.

No. 1 pair Guarino and Hunt fell to the Mustangs pair in two sets 9-21, 14-21. No. 3 pair Lopez Osorio and Blue went three sets but also lost, 7-21, 21-11, 13-15.

No. 5 pair Figueroa and Andrews earned the Lakehawks' only dual win of the day by Stevenson forfeit.

In exhibition, No. 6 pair Perez and Watson finished 15-21, 21-19, 10-10.

Lakehawk beach volleyball will travel to Palatka, Fla. on Friday, March 17 for a trimatch against St. Johns River State College and Palm Beach State College and 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
